Curious About it?

The Afro-American Student Organization (AASO) helps promote diversity at Southern Miss. AASO is the oldest and largest minority student organization on campus. Regardless of race, membership is open to all students. AASO provides social and cultural activities that include social functions, academic programming, community service projects, and leadership development workshops.

The community support and university events are great ways to see what we represent. I’ve been a member for a little while now, but I’m still fairly new. There is always something to support and be a part of. I joined because of its outreach to other students, and the support of social causes.

Everyone is supportive of each other, and one of the things that I’m excited about is the community outreach projects.

For anyone interested in joining the AASO, I think that you should. It’s something that will help you become better involved. A great opportunity to challenge yourself and be a leader within your community.
